Section 19 (specifically 19.24) of the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966 covers the use of complimentary therapies, such as massage and acupressure, on animals by what are considered 'lay people', those not fully qualified as a veterinary surgeon or veterinary nurse. Veterinary permission is required should your animal have any health issues or if you are looking for massage to address a known soft tissue/muscular problem. Whilst veterinary permission is not legally required in the case of massage on a healthy animal (for maintenance or performance), I consider it best practice to get prior veterinary consent in all cases.
I am happy to liaise directly with your vet to get the relevant permissions in place. Please contact me on 0928096869 or loscaninemassagetherapy@yahoo.com to provide your vets and pets details. Alternatively, if you prefer to manage this directly with your vet, please download the Permission Form below, have your vet complete and sign it and return to me, along with your completed and signed Client Contact Form via email to loscaninemassagetherapy@yahoo.com.
